For many, Tactical Periodization represents the most significant turning point in training approaches over the last forty years. The methodology, formalized by Vítor Frade in Portugal in the late 1980s, was initially promoted by Portuguese-speaking coaches such as José Mourinho, André Villas-Boas, and Leonardo Jardim. As success followed, it spread worldwide. In France, coaches like Alain Casanova in the past or Pierre Sage today have helped endorse an approach centered entirely around the game model. However, while all coaches have heard of it, very few are capable of defining its core essence and operational framework.
