Drawing on his experience as a discipline coach of Marcelo Bielsa in 2018-2019, Salim Lamrani shares three examples of activities implemented with the squad.

1- CLEANING THE TRAINING CENTER: "To work on the notion of humility"

After two weeks of living together with the group, I came up with the idea of inviting the players to collectively clean the training center. The first objective was to work on the notion of humility, fundamental to success in elite sport, and to remind them of the importance of this virtue. The other goal was to symbolically pay tribute to the fans, often from lower income backgrounds, who make significant financial sacrifices to follow their favorite club, thus reminding them that they are the soul of football. I therefore integrated the activity into the day's training program under the title "Path to Humility." When the time came, I gathered the players together. We sat in a semicircle, around bags and plastic gloves that I had prepared, to encourage a participatory exchange. I began by recalling the definition of the term "humility"—being aware of one's own limitations—and we then discussed its importance in elite sport. I then spoke about the supporters. I had researched the minimum wage in England and calculated that it took an average of three hours of work to attend a match at Elland Road. So I suggested that we symbolically honor them by collectively cleaning the training ground. One of the players, Adam Forshaw, immediately got up to grab a bag and gloves, leading all of his teammates along. We cleaned the complex for almost an hour, collecting no less than 13 kilos of waste. The feedback from the players on this initiative was very positive and encouraged me to propose other, similarly unusual activities.
