With just a few matches left in the European Championships, the upcoming matches promise to be crucial for all the clubs in the race for promotion or relegation. A decisive period of the season that isn't always easy for a coach to manage. French professional coach Albert Cartier has often experienced these tense final sprints. In 2013 and 2014, the man who spent most of his career between Belgium and France led FC Metz from the National division to Ligue 2, then from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1. How did he best manage this end of the season? "I've always kept in mind a piece of advice from Arsène Wenger, from when he was my coach at AS Nancy-Lorraine. He told me, "A coach should never be euphoric when there's a victory nor down in the dumps when there's a defeat. He must maintain a stable line of conduct and behaviour, otherwise he will destabilize his team." A wise recommendation, and "essential for achieving the set objectives."
