Franck Haise advises to "listen to your heart" when making a choice / © Icon Sport

Are you hesitating between two players, two exercises or two systems...? What if you trusted your intuition? A study published in 2011, conducted by Dutch social psychologist Albert Jan Djiksterhuis of Radboud University (Nijmegen, Netherlands), concluded that, in complex situations, we are better off "opting for an unconscious resolution method," in other words: intuition. In such a context, it is even advisable to know how to detach ourselves from the decision by taking time to sit down and listen to our emotions, without letting them carry us away... because we know the impact they can have on our decisions. During a recent podcast hosted by OGC Nice, Franck Haise rightly reminded us of this: "One thing we forget is our heart. Instinct isn't our head, it's our heart, and it's very different. I think you have to listen to your heart." A few years ago, former Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld said the same thing when he said: "A coach must know how to think with his head and decide with his gut."
