After two and a half years at the head of FC Lorient (French Ligue 2) women's team, Christophe Capian joined RS Berkane in November 2022. The ambitious president "wanted to develop women's football and give it momentum". Arriving alone, with a Moroccan staff, the French took over a team in the Moroccan D2, and lead it to promotion after two seasons. A challenge not so obvious upon his arrival: "I found a team of girls with a very mixed level and a limited capacity for work due to a lack of knowledge of the principles of collective play". Quickly, the technician increased the training load and implemented a methodology inspired by that of the Breton club and based on understanding the game. As a result, the club, promoted, is currently second in the ranking behind AS FAR, champion for ten years. "We managed to structure the women's team around the professional team by going from 5 to 15 employees across the entire section and at the same time and we launched a sports-study program for 24 players at the training center," he says proudly. For this, his ten years of experience at the youth academy in Blagnac was beneficial. The trials he organized for the 18 school groups in Berkane as well. "I saw more than 1000 young female players and selected 100 for a tournament. Finally, 8 joined our sports-study program. Difficult work, but rewarding."
