Have you ever considered that doubt could be… a driving force? Tom Douchet, former physical trainer for RC Lens and a PhD in sports science, is convinced of it and encourages coaches to rethink their relationship with certainty. "A few months ago, I needed to take a step back to examine concepts that seemed important to me: why do we cling so tightly to our certainties? Why is it so difficult to admit what we don't know? And how do we act in the face of uncertainty?" he explains. To develop his thinking, the former trainer at the Dijon FCO and Paris FC youth academies immersed himself in cognitive science, psychology, social dynamics, and his experience in elite sports. "In the world of football, we encounter many contexts in which we do not have the right to doubt, because it is perceived as a risk. However, I think that on the contrary we must embrace this part of the unknown in order to progress, to question what we do and to build a real culture of adaptation on a daily basis," explains the specialist in this pragmatic and enriching approach to doubt.
