In an interview for the English magazine FourFourTwo, the former English international striker (26 caps, 8 goals) Daniel Sturridge spoke about his pleasure of being coached by Carlo Ancelotti from 2009 to 2011 at Chelsea: “He is a fantastic coach who helped me progress a lot. He insisted a lot on the calls for the ball behind the defense.” The current Real Madrid coach, who had just spent eight seasons at AC Milan, had a perfect example to illustrate his point: "He gave me a DVD by Pippo Inzaghi explaining the timing of calls and the importance of being consistent in deep runs. Shortly afterwards, in a Champions League match in Zilina (Slovakia), I made exactly that type of move and scored. After the match, Carlo came to me and said: "That was a perfect call". His methods praised by the former Liverpool player from 2013 to 2019; "It was the ideal management style for me: give very clear instructions, try to apply them, then emphasize that it is well done so that it registers in your brain. After that, you don't need to repeat it over and over again".
