Edinson Cavani and the triangle with the ball and the penalty area to be effective / ©Icon Sport

Napoli, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Valencia CF, Boca Juniors, or the Uruguayan national team… Over the past fifteen years, Edinson Cavani has established himself as one of the most prolific strikers on the planet. In an interview with TV Ciudad, the "Matador" revealed that he owes his skill in scoring and movement… to a piece of advice from his father when he was a child. “He always told me: ‘You have to form a triangle between you, the ball, and the penalty area! Never lose sight of the ball and your position in relation to the area, because that's what will determine the movement you have to make. Even today, I always try to be positioned on the opposite side of the play to anticipate movements and spaces because, for me, positioning represents 80% of a striker's work.” This is a piece of advice that has yielded more than 400 professional goals.
