The new OL Lyonnes training center is expected to open for the start of the 2027-2028 season / ©OL Lyonnes

By changing its name, OL Lyonnes has entered a new chapter in its history. Owner Michèle Kang also announced the construction of its own training centre in Meyzieu, on the outskirts of Lyon, at the former Olympique Lyon  Academy. The players will work in "state-of-the-art facilities, custom-designed for female athletes with typical Lyonnais architecture incorporating local materials. One of the major differences between men and women, in the way we work, is that the players ask a lot of questions about 'why?'" Michèle Kang emphasized during the centre's presentation. "If the coach says, 'We're going to play 4-3-3,' or whatever, I'm convinced the men will do it without question. The women will ask why. They'll have a lot of discussions, in groups or one-on-one with the coach. So, we will create more meeting places." Additionally, specific spaces for mothers, or those considering having one, will be added, such as nurseries and a treatment room. These new facilities and an ambitious project have attracted two-time Champions League winner (2023 and 2024) with FC Barcelona, Jonathan Giràldez, who replaces Joe Montemurro at the helm of OL Lyonnes.
